Monitoring project associated with the revamping of the oil and gaz extraction plateform named Tengiz SGI owned by TCO society.
Located on the Caspian Sea, this oil site is one of the largest in existence, producing both oil and gas. However, sulphur content makes mining more difficult. Also involved is the 3600-metre underground deposit, making it the deepest in the world for a comparable size.
AI as part of its partnership with Schneider, is working in Nigeria on the OFON site. The Ofon field is located in the OML1 102 block, 65 kilometres offshore Nigeria, at a depth of 40 metres. We were called by a client to install a remote monitoring system on an EDf power dam under overhauling works.
The client needed to install an monitoring system using a webcam and of two float based level sensors.
We chose the hardware architecture shown in the above figure composed by: a Mobotix (D16D) webcam with a 180° panoramic vision, with a PoE power supply and a connection range extender for distances over 100m; two float based level sensors; and an eWON PLC serving as an ethernet gateway and communicating via the GSM-3G network.
A complete connection procedure was handed to the client for remote connexion using a secured VPN tunnel and a fixed IP address to access the webcam images. The PLC was programmed to send SMS messages when a water level alarm is activated.
