Following major changes on the energy supply of Cherbourg’s airport (new groups, new inverters, new distribution boards), AI has been responsible for changing the program of energy management.

At this airport, a PLC managing energy communicates with a PLC controller using Profinet protocol to convey information necessary for supervision located in the control tower. It is on this PLC that we have worked.

Following the new design of energy managment, a new exchange table has been set up for the PLC of SNA containing all the necessary information for air traffic controllers.

French airspace is supervised by five regional air-traffic control centers (CNRA). CNRA-Est in Reims is in charge of air-traffic control for all of eastern France. In order for CNRA-Est to carry out this mission, it must have up-to-the-minute information on the electrical supply network. In order to provide continuous, reliable service to aircraft in the center’s airspace, the center’s power supply was carefully designed and a supervision system implemented.
